Your Support Saves Lives

Men and women with end-stage organ disease face a tough and often expensive battle, and many must temporarily relocate to another city to access the transplant care that could save their lives. By providing affordable temporary housing for transplant patients, close to Dallas transplant hospitals, Alex Wilson Lodging makes transplantation accessible to more people who need advanced, life-saving treatment.

With generous support from donors like you, Alex Wilson Lodging is able to provide safe, comfortable accommodations and life-changing support for transplant patients and their families.

Lodging is Life

Access to affordable, temporary lodging can mean the
difference between life or death for transplant patients.

76,000 People Waiting for Transplants

About 76,000 people are actively waiting for lifesaving organ transplants every day, yet only 4 percent of medical centers have a transplant program.

Nearly 40% of Patients Need Local Lodging

Nearly 40 percent of organ recipients live more than 60 miles from their Dallas transplant hospital.

Requirements to be on Waiting List

To get on a waiting list for transplant, patients must prove they have a place to stay, with a caregiver, within 60 miles of their transplant hospital.

Away from Home for Up to 6 Months

From pre-transplant evaluation through surgery and recovery, a transplant patient who travels for treatment may spend as long as six months away from home.

Caregiver Needed Up to 90 Days After Transplant

Patients must have a family member or other support person with them for up to 90 days after transplantation
