Our Story

Alex Wilson Lodging was created in memory of a 20-year-old Arlington man whose future was stolen by a car accident in 2009. A student at Baylor University and a 2007 graduate of Oakridge High School, Alex loved and lived life fully, always with a genuine smile to compliment his generous heart. His organs saved and improved the lives of many people.

Alex Wilson Lodging is an independent, nonprofit organization that provides temporary, affordable housing, in a home-like environment, for organ transplant patients and their families visiting Dallas for medical care.

Created by dedicated members of a Dallas area transplant team – Alex Wilson Lodging partners with area hotels and rental properties to negotiate reduced rates for transplant patients, then pays a portion of the rent to lower the financial burden of lodging for traveling patients and their loved ones.

With support from generous donors, our long-term goal is to raise enough capital for a new temporary housing facility for patients and their caregiver, including private extended-stay residences, communal areas, and supportive staff members. This home away from home near Dallas’ Medical District will increase access to transplantation for many out-of-town patients who otherwise would be unable to qualify as transplant recipients due to lack of nearby lodging due to expense.

Provide Peace

By alleviating much of the burden of transplant lodging, we provide peace of mind when transplant patients need it most.
